Ph.D. student

Bernhard received his master’s degree from the University of Heidelberg (Systems Biology). Captivated by his first observation of intricate and heterogeneous single-cell behaviour he is since then pondering about its implications. First, how is complex information integrated by single cells and to what extent is this reflected through multiple biological layers? Second, what mechanisms of eukaryotic cells could help to cope with the inherent stochasticity of physicochemical reactions to achieve a semi-deterministic phenotype? He joined Pelkmans lab in November 2015 to explore these notions.
